Website Care

Your website is quite possibly one of the biggest investments you've made in your business.

So, you'll want to take care of it!

It's a challenge, though.  Time is at a premium.  You’re busy running a business, and at the same time, having a life!  Despite all of your good intentions and confident resolutions to stay on top of things, you tend to fall behind, even drop the ball altogether, on keeping your website current. Often, this leads to cutting corners or just ignoring your site altogether which is a big mistake. When you're unfamiliar with the tech side, keeping things up-to-date, like the backend of your website, can seem overwhelming.

That's where I come in.

With my Website Care Plan, you no longer have anything to fear.  You'll never have to look at another cPanel. So, don't worry.

I'll take it from here.

Answers to Common Questions ...

I typically only provide Site Care for websites that I've designed, so your typical first step is to choose the design package that's right for you.

If you'd like to keep the look and feel of your current site, but make it much, much easier to use, I can convert and move it to my Site Care service.

Whether your needs are simple or more complex, if you're ready for a whole new website design, I can help with that as well.

All Site Care clients also get hourly assistance at a discounted rate for requests that will take longer than 30 minutes. Don't worry though. I'll send you an estimate and get your approval before starting. You'll never get a surprise invoice from me!

If you consistently need more than quick answers each month, additional hours are available in 1, 3 and 5 hour increments. You can use this time to ask me to troubleshoot something, editing existing content, add simple functionality...pretty much anything.

This is not retained time. These hours expire at the end of each month.

Retainers require a delicate balance of my time to avoid bottlenecks and burnout. I only offer retainers to select clients who have nurtured a relationship with ValerieRickert.com If you'd like to retain monthly time, please contact me to talk about that possibility.

If you are on a Website as a Service (WaaS) contract, then yes, I do require that we host the website until the end of your contract term.  At that point, ownership of the site will transferred to you.  You will then have the opportunity to begin the Website Care plan which will allow you to keep your site updated with minimal effort on your part.

If you're paying with standard payment terms, your price includes 90 days of hosting. I strongly recommend that you start a site care plan after that.

Please get in touch if you're considering migrating your website to your own hosting account. I can clarify what that means for your continued costs (themes, plugins, etc) and recommend a few hosting services that I consider to have great reputations.

It depends.  If you have a .com account and cPanel privileges, then, yes, I can set you up initially, show you how to continue, and then you would take control.  If you do not have these privileges and want them, I'll be happy to show you how and set you up.

Otherwise, I recommend that you set up your @yourwebsite.com email addresses with G-Suite from Google.  For most small businesses and organizations, this will be approximately $5 per month through Google.

If you follow the steps Google has provided, the process is fairly straight forward to set up.  Still, if you like, I can setup and migrate your email for you for an additional $45. Contact me and we'll get the ball rolling.

Yes, I do!  For pre-existing clients, maintenance is included in the Website Care Plan with a rate of $50 per month.  A steal!

For new clients, the assessment of your website needs will be trickier:

I will first need to research your site to determine the layout, design, and the issues involved. Once that analysis is complete, I can provide you a detailed assessment as well as an estimate of the work to be performed.  The initial cost of that analysis is $295.  Websites that I have not designed are approached cautiously.  If your site needs extensive maintenance, I will set up an appointment with you to review the issues; we can then approach that work in 5 hour increments.

Please remember, this work is maintenance, NOT redesign of pages.

For pre-existing clients, your maintenance is already covered in the Website Care Plan.

For new clients with website issues, the rate charged is $135 per hour once the preliminary analysis is complete.  For those of you with extensive rework, a much more cost effective option is to purchase my time in five hour increments for a lump sum of $500.

Either way, I'm here for you!  Let me know how I can help.
